We write today to encourage all eligible pastors to sign up for Spirited Life: Selah – the latest offering from our partners at the Duke Clergy Health Initiative. Registration closes soon!
We have seen how carefully the Clergy Health Initiative designed, piloted and evaluated Selah, and we highly recommend the program that awaits you. Created just for UMC pastors in North Carolina, Selah is an invitation to learn strategies to shape one’s daily rhythm to be more sacred and attentive, and in so doing, to respond to the stresses of ministry life. It is a program to deeply engage with one of three practices designed to equip clergy with the tools they need to manage and respond to stress.
Spirited Life: Selah begins with attendance and participation at an overnight workshop. The Selah workshops have been designed to introduce you to a new stress reduction practice and to a group of fellow clergy who will learn with you. These events will also offer you the gift of rest, silence, and worship.
Following attendance at the workshop, participants will be invited to six months of daily practice and some virtual follow-up sessions with the clergy from their workshop.
In this video, Pastor Carol Carkin speaks about her participation in the pilot program, and the impact Selah had on her life and ministry.
With best wishes,
Kristen and Robb
