Saturday, November 2nd beginning at 2:00 pm at 107 N. Driver Street Durham, NC
The Religious Coalition for a Nonviolent Durham invites our Coalition and broader Durham community to a gathering of public witness on the grounds of Shepherd’s House UMC (107 North Driver Street).
- We do this amidst communal grief over news of nine neighbors injured and two precious lives taken violently: all by gunfire, all since Monday evening.
- We do this lamenting that these latest come amidst many more bodies torn by our city’s violence, and (now) thirty-seven Durham neighbors killed violently in 2019.
- We do this because as a Coalition, we deeply mourn the 37th (our 17-year-old brother Zaeveon Tucker) being snatched away from us at Shepherd’s House, a space we know well. Where we break bread together at Community Luncheons each month, we gather again to nourish each other in the way of peace. Where we assemble in Annual Vigil to speak the precious name of every neighbor lost, we gather to reconsecrate all that violence desecrates. In a place where we have loved each other well, we gather to recommit ourselves to Love that lets not one of our neighbors go.
ALL are welcome as we bear witness to the sacredness of every life, and the fullness of who we are together.
