A: The Corridor Youth host three annual events: Fall Rally on the first Sunday in October, Canned Food Drive in March, and Chicken Pickin’ the first Sunday in May.
Q: Who plans the district youth events?
A: All of the district youth events are planned by the Corridor District Youth Council with the help of the District Youth Coordinator, Jon Helton.
Q: How can I promote these events to my youth group?
A: The district council is always willing to come speak to your youth group about our events to help promote them. Contact Jon Helton if you are interested in inviting the council to come speak at your church!
Q: How can I join the Corridor District Youth Council?
A: The council is open to anyone who is a member of a United Methodist Church in the Corridor District and in 6th-12th grade. At Chicken Pickin’ every year, the youth elect a new President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The youth who run but are not elected will automatically be added to the council as members-at-large. An online form will be posted leading up to Chicken Pickin’ for all those who are interested in running for an officer position or serving as a member-at-large.
Q: What are district shirts and how do I order them?
A: Every year the council designs district youth shirts that we encourage youth to wear on Saturday of Pilgrimage. Contact Jon Helton before October 11th to place an order.
Q: What is YSF?
A: YSF stands for Youth Service Fund and is led by the Conference Youth Treasurer and the YSF TaskForce. The money they raise goes to supporting youth mission projects in our conference and around the world as well as providing scholarships for youth to attend Conference Youth Events.
Q: Where can I find information about Conference Youth Events?
A: Information about Pilgrimage, Global Vision, Kaleidoscope, Breakaway, Trail Hike, and ACS can be found on the Conference Youth website: www.nccyouth.org.
