March 13, 2017 @ Pleasant Green UMC
from 10:00 a.m. – 3 p.m.
THE CHURCH OF THE FUTURE IS NOW
Join us for a day apart as we worship together, fulfill the business of our common life, and as we think together about each of our congregations and their future. Who are we now and who is Christ calling us to become in these days? Do we see our neighbors as “other”? As a project? As the key to our renewal? How will we lead our congregations into these questions?
We will be led in worship by the Rev. Brad Thie, the director of the Thriving Rural Church program at Duke Divinity School. We will be joined for the day by the Revs. Greg Moore and Marty Cauley from the office of New Faith Communities as they lead us all–whether new church starts or 200 year old community pillar churches–to read our communities, ask good questions, and lead the church of the future now.

Rev. Brad Thie, preaching
11:00-12:30 : Workshopping in Small Groups

We are asking all clergy to commit to this day apart. Please indicate your lunch preferences. We give thanks for your donation to the meal fund as it helps us use our District dollars to resource mission and ministry. While we do not normally provide childcare for weekday District meetings in the school year, if this is a need you have that will prevent you from attending, let Jessie know and we’ll work it out.
