Highland UMC will host this consultation and listening session on Saturday, April 14th from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.
(1901 Ridge Road Raleigh, NC 27607)
The world, the country, and our state is filled with conflict, division, tension and complex societal issues.
As a church, we need to find ways to heal the major divisions we all experience, but have difficulty dealing with. Congregations struggle with forming ministries to address these issues so we need to learn new ways of sharing the Gospel and Biblical narrative in ways that reconcile, heal and create justice in society.
The Board of Church and Society is hosting a consultation and listening session for churches with peace and justice ministries. We will share stories about our ministries, discover ideas from each other, explore new ways to build effective approaches to engage congregations in justice and peace work and share ideas about having difficult discussions on contentious topics.
We will also share resources and materials from the General Board of Church and Society and other agencies and organizations to build capacity and a deeper understanding of the Biblical narrative about God’s call for peace and justice in the world.
The agenda will focus on dialogue and sharing… with an emphasis on listening to learn from each other.
