To a formless void God came …
And created order and life.
To a world lacking guidance and connection God came
And established a covenant people.
To a people enslaved and without a future God came …
And brought liberation and a new future.
To a self-satisfied and selfish people God came …
And spoke through prophetic voices of judgment.
To a conquered and exiled people God came …
And provided hope and reconstitution.
To a nation that longed for divine intervention God came …
And the Messiah was born.
To the lost, left out and lonely Jesus came …
And conveyed authentic connection.
To those with broken bodies, minds and spirits Jesus came …
And imparted holistic healing.
To a world filled with violence, bitterness and the will to power Jesus came
Add shared forgiveness.
To human beings caught in a web of sin Jesus came …
And offered the gift of salvation.
To frightened disciples the Spirit came …
And engendered power and courage.
To new believers the Spirit came …
And effected transformation.
To you, in your joys and in your challenges God still comes …
And brings healing and wholeness.
